Tatari Named a Best Workplace for 2022 by AdAge and Energage

What an honor to be named by AdAge (for the 2nd time) and Energage as a Best Workplace for 2022. Just like other awards we have received, I truly believe that Tatarians are the foundation of our culture and values, and that these awards belong to all of us.

We officially ended 2021 with 238 employees, exactly doubling our team year-over-year. It’s really quite something to think that Tatari has quadrupled in size since the onset of the COVID pandemic—at two of the three regional holiday dinners this past year, there were more attendees than the last time the whole company got together in person! 

When people ask me about Tatari’s culture, I think about why I joined Tatari 4+ years ago; back when there were just nine full-time employees. In the many interviews I went through (including a team dinner before I was given the offer), I observed how everyone interacted with each other with such familiarity and comfort. There was an underlying trust amongst everyone that really resonated with me, and I knew that if I were to join Tatari, I would have that same trust from each and every person that worked here. It’s incredible how much we’ve been able to grow and scale this company…together.

And now at 238, not much has changed…and that’s a good thing! I know there’s no perfect culture—though we constantly strive for it—and it’s not a one-size-fit-all solution. This may sound a bit cheesy, but I do generally believe in the good of people; if you treat people with respect, take time to get to know them, practice empathy, and start with a baseline of trust, you can create a strong foundation for any relationship. I practice this in my personal life and also at Tatari. After all, we’re just a bunch of people trying to figure ourselves out, and searching for people and places where we belong and can be ourselves.

Wow, that just got a bit deep (blame it on my Sociology degree)...

2021 was another phenomenal year at Tatari. Almost all teams within the organization doubled in size, and we added two key executives to the leadership team: Todd (VP, Client Development) and Lara (VP, Product); I was particularly excited to have another strong female leader on our executive team. 

The whole company remained remote and thriving despite the short-lived optimism in late-July; we sadly had to cancel our in-person Tatari Bonanza in southern California due to the rise in Covid cases around the world. Teams began to collaborate in-person again (when safe to do so, and fully vaccinated of course) with photos of team lunches and happy hour pouring in. 

We found a permanent home for our New York office in September and hosted in-person regional holiday dinners. The HR team was again relentless in scheduling virtual team events that included Dueling Piano, Exploring Your Alter Ego, Volunteer event with Girl Develop It, Halloweek ending with a virtual tour of “The Plague Doctor of Prague,” and a heart warming talk from two of our own employees discussing their mental health journey.
